My Daughter's name is Sarayu. We were reading the Ramayan and absolutely loved the name of the river Sarayu.

I really love my name. This appears in The Ramayana. Also, it is mentioned in 'Chandragupt Vikramaditya' (in Hindi). R. K. Narayan's books also contain a mention of the name. It sounds very serene and holy and reflects peace. Yo!

I fell in love with this name from reading "The Shack" because of all that the Character personified. I decided there and then that if I ever had another girl child I would name her Sarayu.

I too read the book "The Shack" and loved the name Sarayu and it's meaning. So I renamed my Haynes flute Sarayu. Wonderful book, wonderful name and wonderful message.

In the book "The Shack," Sarayu means "calming wind" and is the name for the Holy Spirit. I thought this was very meaningful and wonderful.
